Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s daughter is reporting that the attack on Pelosi’s husband in their home affected her more than anyone has known. She has even invited priests to come and perform an exorcism in her home after her husband, Paul, was attacked with a hammer by an alleged intruder.
Pelosi told The New York Times that it would be “three or four more months before he’s really back to normal.”
Alexandra, Pelosi’s daughter, said, “I think that weighed really heavy on her soul. I think she felt really guilty. I think that really broke her. Over Thanksgiving, she had priests coming, trying to have an exorcism of the house and having prayer services.”
But the priest of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Fr. Arturo Albano, told the New York Post that no one from his staff has been involved in anything like this.
“As far as I know, no exorcism or priest services were performed at her home,” Albano told The Post.
Pelosi was asked if the attack in her home had impacted her decision to step down from her position as House Speaker. She said that it was already time for her to let other people lead in the House and she was likely going to step down anyway.
She also said this about Trump’s four years in office, “If Hillary had won, I could have left. But I was not going to Donald Trump have his way with the government.”
Prosecutors charged David DePape, 42, with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and elder abuse, when he struck Mr. Pelosi with a hammer in their San Francisco home in October. But DePape has pled not guilty and his attorney, Adam Lipton, said that the suspect “is going to be fighting this case in court, not the hallway.”
The San Francisco District Attorney, Brooke Jenkins, plans to prosecute DePape to the fullest extent of the law.
