Google’s Same Old Tricks, Burying Trump’s Campaign Website on Search

Google has proven it has learned nothing about the consequences of censorship. Maybe it’s because the party in power refuses to hold them accountable for their bias. Perhaps the corruption at big tech is too deep to overcome.

Regardless, Trump has a Google problem.

Searchers searching for former President Donald Trump’s campaign website must dig deeper on Google. The search giant has buried Trump’s results somewhere in the pages of irrelevancy, per a study from the Media Research Center.

MRC’s research showed that Trump’s campaign website is not in the top 100 search results. President Joe Biden’s campaign, however, holds the number one spot.

MRC researchers used Google in a “clean environment.” without any past searches or stored cookies and discovered that Google completely removed Donald Trump’s website from the top 100 search results.

President Joe Biden’s campaign website was pushed to the number one spot.

Researchers searched three times for the top three candidates’ names with “presidential race 2024.” When they looked up Trump, they found many polls, opinion pieces, news articles, and commentaries about the 2024 election.

However, his campaign website didn’t show up in the search results.

Dan Schneider from MRC Free Speech America says that people who often search for political things on their computers will probably get different results because Google keeps track of their searches. However, this study shows that Google is doing something more “sinister.”

He believes that by manipulating data, Google influenced millions of votes in the 2020 election. And he worries that it will happen again.

Since the first presidential debate in August 2023, MRC Free Speech America has watched how Google shows websites for Republican or right-leaning candidates. They found that Google often hides Republican campaign websites, especially Donald Trump’s. The only time Google didn’t do this was for Will Hurd, who had low poll numbers and represented no threat to Biden. Google continued to show his campaign website even after he quit the race.

For Google, it’s business as usual. MRC Free Speech America discovered that before the June presidential debate, Google completely hid the websites of the only two pro-life candidates, Randall Terry from the Constitutional Party and Trump.

Meanwhile, Biden’s website appeared first in search results, along with Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Independent candidate Cornel West. Kennedy’s campaign website often appeared as the third result, as did Libertarian candidate Chase Oliver’s.

It’s not a new discovery. In June, MRC revealed that in another search for “Republican Party presidential campaign websites” and “Democratic Party presidential campaign websites,” Trump’s campaign website was way down at the 39th result, and Biden’s website was at the very top.

At the time, MRC researchers found Trump’s website just below a link to democrats.org, which talks about using donations to defeat MAGA Republicans. No other top Republican candidate’s campaign websites showed up in the search results.

Something similar happened after Trump’s hush money “guilty” verdict. Even though former President Trump’s donation website crashed because so many people visited it after the verdict, his campaign website was the only one not showing up on the first page of search results.

All other candidates’ websites, including President Joe Biden’s and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s, appeared in the top 10 results when researchers searched for each candidate’s name along with “presidential race 2024.”

The position of a search result on the first page of Google is critical. Google is the most popular search engine, used by almost 92 percent of people worldwide. According to Brian Dean, a search engine expert, the higher a result appears, the better it performs.

Dean studied how often people click on different search results on Google. His blog, Backlinko, found that the top result on Google gets 27.6% of all clicks and is ten times more likely to be clicked than the tenth result. Other studies, like the 2020 one by Sistrix, have found similar results.

Regardless of Biden’s withdrawal from the race, Trump will unlikely gain ground on Google. Google’s thumb is on the scales, and Trump cannot win on the tech giant’s platform.

Censorship is alive and well in America, and the left doesn’t want it any other way.
