Sanctuary City Mayor Says the Immigration Crisis is Unfair

According to New York City’s liberal mayor, Eric Adams, the Big Apple is being treated unfairly. In fact, as he recently told MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, his “house is burning down.”
Why?

Well, if you haven’t heard, there’s a massive immigration crisis taking place in the United States, with millions of new illegal migrants crossing the border in very little time. Now, of course, this has been an ongoing problem for a few years. You know, basically ever since November of 2020 when it was announced that Joe Biden would become the next president of the United States.

It was at this point that immigration policies set up by Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, were cut down and replaced with, well, nothing. In fact, as many would say, they weren’t replaced at all. Instead, border security and infrastructure were simply reduced, and policies that once kept millions from becoming illegal aliens were backtracked.

To say that there’s been an invasion of the country’s southern border since then is putting it mildly.

According to the latest data released from Biden’s Border Patrol, the month of December saw a new record high for illegal crossings, a whopping 250,000 or more. And those are just the ones who were captured. It is estimated that hundreds more escaped and made it into the country without being apprehended or caught.

As the Federation for Immigration Reform or FAIR recently noted on social media, that makes over 700,000 apprehensions for the first three months of FY 2023 – again the highest ever recorded. It also means that a massive 5.5 million illegals have made it into the US since Biden took over in January of 2021.

With numbers like those, it’s hard to imagine anyone, even those in northern and liberal-ran cities like NYC, not seeing the problem and wanting solutions.

Of course, it’s only been in the last few months that those city’s leaders, men like Eric Adams, have seemed to take an interest.

Perhaps that’s because governors of southern border states like Texas, Arizona, and even Florida have grown tired of their cries for help being ignored. Understandably so, they have since chosen to send a few of their problems – namely, busloads of illegals let in by Biden’s administration – to self-proclaimed sanctuary cities like New York, Washington, DC, and Chicago.
Naturally, those cities are starting to be overrun with illegals, just like the border states are. And apparently, Adams doesn’t like it or think it’s fair.

In fact, as he told Scarborough on Wednesday, it’s “unfair for cities to carry the weight of a national problem.”

Now to be sure, he is correct. Immigration and the lack of security at our borders most certainly is a national problem. And it’s one that no one should have to deal with or “carry” beyond the federal government.

Of course, Adams first went on to try to blame Republicans for blocking moves that could provide solutions. But then he made a comment that just about anyone with a brain could only take as a finger pointing directly in Joe Biden’s face.

He said, “When my house is burning, I don’t want to hear about fire prevention. Let’s put out the fire. And the fire right now is the overproliferation of migrant asylum seekers in several cities in the country.”

Even liberals could see both the truth and hypocrisy of this statement.

Yes, the problem is too many illegal migrants. And yes, the only want to stop that is by enforcing the border. But as I mentioned before, this has been an ongoing problem and one that border cities like El Paso, Yuma, and San Diego have been dealing with for years now.

And for just as long, governors like Texas’ Greg Abbott have been begging for and even demanding help from Biden and his agencies. Finally, some in the north are starting to take notice. Of course, it’s only taken three years and nearly 6 million illegals to get to that point.
