Of Course, Romney and Ryan are Working to Gather 2024 Candidates Against Trump

As you might have guessed, Never Trumpers and RINOs aren’t all that happy that former President Donald Trump is once again leading a presidential election in the polls. And so, a select few have devised a plan…

No, don’t worry. They don’t plan to add any more legal trouble or such nonsense to Trump’s life.

Instead, the plan is quite simply to throw their support behind another GOP presidential candidate in the hopes of making America see that Trump is not the only or first choice we should have.

Of course, it’s all being put into play by RINOs like Senator Mitt Romney of Utah and former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan. Together, the pair is hosting a summit to which a few alternatives to Trump have been invited.

Now, to be sure, the summit itself, called the E2 Summit, is nothing new. Romney hosts it yearly and has done so for over a decade. According to Axios, it usually covers a wide range of topics, from business to foreign policy, really anything assumed to be of interest to the GOP Party.

This year, however, it’s not just about policies. As the outlet reported, nearly all other serious Republican presidential candidates have been invited, and not just to attend but to speak before the group of around 250 well-connected attendees.

As Spencer Zwick, who is directing the event, says, most in attendance and speaking are those who “don’t just accept that Donald Trump is the nominee. It’s not in their DNA. They’re genuinely interested in a candidate they can get excited about and get behind.”

Just who that candidate is yet widely unknown.

Naturally, this year’s event hopes to showcase these “alternatives” to the people in attendance.

As Zwick told the Washington Post, “If people in this room, and at this gathering, start to really get behind one or two of these candidates. You’re going to see some real movement in the polls.”

Then, the plan is to shorten the list of alternatives even more as those polls change, putting even more of a concentrated effort into backing someone who could actually beat Trump and win the nomination.

The only problem, of course, is that no one that they’ve invited has any real shot of doing that.

As you may know, by looking at any polls or just discussing the potential with friends and family, Trump has a major lead. And by major, I mean he has already won the hearts and votes of somewhere around 57 percent of the American public.

The closest contender to that is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has a measly 12 percent in comparison. The next best contestant is entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

And yet, neither of those men are coming to the summit.

Long shots Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, Doug Burgum, and Chris Christie are all coming, as is Georgia GOP Governor Brian Kemp. But they all poll in only single digits – or lower.

So I’m not sure this whole plan of theirs is going to work. At least not enough to do any real damage to Trump. Nice try, Never Trumpers…
