California has banned a lot of different guns. They have more gun laws than virtually every other state in the United States. The liberals believe that if they have plenty of gun laws in place, bad things can’t happen.
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: Criminals do not follow gun laws. In fact, criminals don’t care about any of the laws. When someone’s hell-bent on breaking the laws, they’ll break all of them. And they’ll get guns wherever they can, including on the street.
California’s protective bubble was burst over the weekend when there was a mass shooting.
The progressives suddenly learned a hard lesson: gun laws won’t protect them.
In Sacramento, California, two people took to the streets of downtown and opened fire – right before dawn.
The shooters, police estimate that there were two, killed six and wounded another 12. All of this happened just as bars were closing and crowds poured into the streets.
Sadly, this is the city’s second mass shooting in the past five weeks.
No one should face such violence in their life. And the liberals have passed countless gun laws to prevent such tragedies from happening.
There’s just one problem – California liberals want to pretend that the issue is because of guns, not criminals. And the Democratic DAs rarely give criminals the sentences that they need in order to correct their behavior. As such, there’s no longer a deterrent in the Golden State. Criminals feel as though they can do whatever they want without having to face any serious penalties.
The crime scene that took place this past Sunday spanned several city blocks.
Investigators had their work cut out for them. They had hundreds of pieces of evidence – and they were asking for anyone who had witnessed the shooting to come forward with videos, photos, or even tips about what happened and why.
Sacramento Police Chief Kathy Lester called for assistance. “We’re asking for the public’s help in helping us to identify the suspects in this.” As of right now, the two shooters are still at large.
There are only a few things that have been found – a stolen handgun at the scene being one of them. This shows that a person did not follow California laws in order to acquire a gun legally.
Now that it’s been a few days, video footage is starting to emerge on social media. Hopefully, that will give the police everything they need to be able to figure out who the shooters were and get them into custody.
California has to figure out what they’re going to do next, though.
What will happen to the suspects is critical. Releasing them without sufficient bail will send a message that says that what happened in Sacramento is acceptable. Sentencing them with little more than a slap on the wrist may even encourage other criminals to carry guns and open fire with no regard for human life.
Plenty of Republicans watching the news couldn’t help but make a comment. Jack Posobiec, an American activist, tweeted “Another mass shooting in California. Sounds like a rifle firing on full auto. How can this be possible when they are banned in the state? It makes no sense. What could it be.”
Posobiec certainly brings up a good point, even though his tweet is dripping with sarcasm. If a mass shooting can happen in California, with all of the gun control laws they have in place, then a mass shooting can happen anywhere, regardless of what laws may get passed by the liberals.
Criminals are criminals. The best way to prevent the crimes from happening is to use the justice system. The harsher the penalty, the stronger the deterrent for future criminals.
Maybe California will finally figure this out.
