The Deal the Democrats Wish They Had Never Made

There are those times in every person’s life that they wish they would have never made certain agreements. The Democratic leaders now wish they would have cut a deal with Mitch McConnell, which forces them to share power. Joe Biden somehow got Justice Stephen Breyer to announce his retirement, which opened up a position on the Supreme Court.

Mitch McConnell is in a perfect spot at the moment. The deal he brokered with Chuck Schumer gives him the power to shut down any vote for a new justice nomination.

All that is needed to confirm a justice is 51 votes. And since the Senate has split down the middle, all it would take is the tie-breaking vote of Kamala Harris to place the next justice.

But the Daily Wire found that TIME Magazine stated, “But the nuclear option can go into motion only if the Judiciary Committee reports the nomination to the floor, a procedural move that says whether a majority on the committee recommends the full Senate consider the pick. Well, in a little-noticed backroom deal that took more than a month to hammer out, McConnell and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer agreed to a power-sharing plan in February that splits committee membership, staffs, and budgets in half.” And that deal will be a thorn in the side of Schumer until the day he loses control.

The Daily Wire also found that “If all 11 Republican members of the Judiciary Committee oppose Biden’s pick and all 11 Democrats back her, the nomination goes inert. The nomination doesn’t die, but it does get parked until a lawmaker—historically, the Leader of the party—brings it to the floor for four hours of debate.”

The road is not as easy as the Democrats would like to think. If McConnell kills the vote based on the deal he made with Schumer, the next time it comes up for a vote, the nominee would need 60 votes even to bring it back around. And that is highly unlikely to happen because no Republican is going to vote for a liberal judge that will likely want to destroy the integrity of the court at some point in the future.

There is no reason to jump the gun and make any mistakes before the Democrats can make a mess of things themselves. McConnell is just buying his time and taking it slow. Joe Biden and his regime have long wanted to place a progressive on the bench. But they needed to get rid of Breyer first.

Breyer has ties back to the Bill Clinton days. And ever since Donald Trump was able to place several people on the bench with conservative values, the Democrats have been seething for the time they can put a communist in place.

Joe Biden needed Breyer to leave his position before the next Senate election. The Democrats control both parts of the government, and they know that the only way they can get what they want is to have it done before the Republicans take over. But the party has so much division within that it is next to impossible for any of them to work together.

And now that Mitch McConnell can force Chuck Schumer into a corner with the deal he made, the likelihood of a liberal judge being placed seems remote. But that is the least of the problems that the Democrats are seeing.

Justice Breyer did not want the news of his retirement to get out. But the nasty liberals could not wait to start spreading the word and looking for his replacement. Breyer is ticked off by the liberals and how they circle him, hoping that he will leave.

The news got out, and the media ran with it. Somewhere a liberal opened their big mouth and revealed the news that was not to be made public. But now that the deed is done, it is time for the Republicans to use every tool in their arsenal to fight for freedom and keep America great.
